Paso Robles means pass of the oaks in Spanish. These trees come from this pass of oaks in California. All the trees were standing dead and had died from natural causes. The drought in California is very hard on trees, even trees as hardy and strong as oak. All the coloring in the wood is natural. The heart wood of these trees is much denser and darker in color. The unusual patterning, called spalting, is caused by infection in the tree. All the wood was cut and milled by me personally.
